Ninety.io Assessment Tool
At Ninety.io, I led the design of a new Assessments tool—transforming it from a rigid MVP into a flexible, scalable product. The new tool allowed teams to create, deploy, and analyze their own assessments, eliminating the need for external solutions. This initiative expanded platform usage beyond leadership teams, drove retention, and unlocked valuable diagnostic data for future product innovation.
Problem
The MVP version of the Assessments tool was extremely limited:
Only supported a single, predefined assessment (Org Fitness).
Designed exclusively for Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs).
Completed just once per quarter, leading to low engagement.
Lacked a UI for creating or adding new assessments.
Forced users to rely on external tools (SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms).
This rigidity created friction, limited adoption, and missed opportunities for company-wide insights.
Goals
Business Objectives:
Expand usage of the Assessments tool to non-SLT employees.
Increase retention and expansion through higher platform engagement.
Collect richer, more diverse data for future initiatives.
Product Objectives:
Enhance flexibility and user control with custom assessments.
Reduce reliance on external survey tools.
Promote regular usage across the entire organization.
Deliver accessible, lightweight reporting.
My Role
Lead Product Designer responsible for research, UX/UI design, prototyping, and testing.
Partnered with Product, Engineering, and Data to define the roadmap, scope, and MVP.
Advocated for user needs in cross-functional alignment sessions with leadership.
Built out UI within the existing Ninety design system, ensuring scalability across web and mobile.
By transforming the Assessments tool into a flexible, user-driven product, I not only solved a clear user pain point but also delivered measurable business outcomes for Ninety—driving expansion, retention, and engagement while setting the foundation for future data-driven initiatives.
